THE PROJECT:
The largest and most complex project SSLNYNJ has ever been involved in. We partnered with Mass Electric to deliver a Traction Power Substation to Path Facilities. Our team integrated various manufacturers to deliver a substation with an incoming utility voltage of 26.4 KV from PSEG through the final utilization at the third rail of 650VDC. The supplied equipment included 38kV class Switchgear, Siemens Mobility rectifiers, ABB traction power transformers, AETA designed SCADA system, Powell DC switchgear, Eaton UPS, Alpha battery system, JST cast coil transformers, and GE/ABB low voltage auto throwover switchboard. We collaborated with our partner, Helios, to facilitate training and onsite support. Many challenges occurred throughout the life of this project, the most daunting being COVID. Our ability to swiftly react to issues that arose and work closely with Mass helped us successfully deliver our first traction power substation.
